Boy, when I started my 52 Weeks, 52 Changes, I had no idea how much would change. In Rock-Solid Families, I wrote a great deal about thinking change and how important it is to be flexible. Years later and I am still living those words.

It’s August and to many that means change. Many of my friends are in the stage of parenting where children are flying away from the nest. This is by far one of the most difficult of transitions.

Today, I revisit the disorientation that comes with this stage of parenting. Not only is my heart breaking for those who are facing it for the first time, I, too, am facing it again. And, let me tell you, it is still hard. When you have a few extra moments and need some encouragement, may the “fresh” words of this 2011 message strengthen your heart.
