Science simply cannot make the claims that faith can. Where science runs up against a wall, faith floats over like a ghost. ‘Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the certainty of what we do not see’ (Hebrews 11:1 BSB). Faith does not get stuck in the cyclic demand of the scientific process, being required to move from observation to hypothesis and then from experiment to conclusion, only to be repeated many times over. Faith means putting our hope and certainty in God, unseen and unquantifiable as he may be. Faith allows God to inform our understanding of the world, ourselves, and everything else. He defines Truth. He is Truth.
