Q: What does drawing from a deep well mean to you?

My new baby grandson is named Wells Shepherd. My daughter and her husband want him to know that he can always draw from the deep wells of God’s Spirit. In this week’s episode, Dr. Gerald Sittser encourages each of us to remember that “small steps have a strong cumulative effect.” As someone who has made my way through life as a performer, I’ve believed the lie that “more is better” and that my worth comes from achievement. Success equates with visibility and applause. I think I’m finally understanding how exhausting that can be.
