Hey all you JMU InterVarsity Women! Didn’t we have a great time on Saturday? If you remember, we took on a challenge to study (5) scriptures that serve as hearing aids in listening to God. After the session, a beautiful young woman approached me, with a big smile on her face, and shared that there were actually two girls present who wore hearing aids.

“Oh, wow!” I smiled. “Well, tell me your thoughts.”

“When you were talking about silence, I could totally relate,” she said. “All I have to do is take out my hearing aids and my world is silent. Recently, I was told there was a possible surgery that could fix my problem and I said no. I have come to see this ability (not disability) as a blessing.”

I’m sure I’m missing some of the points of our conversation, but what really spoke to me was the fact that she has grown up with silence. It has become her friend. A gift. A blessing. She taught me, once again, how valuable silence is in a cacophonous world.

Here’s a recap:

Hearing Aid(s)
“Let the wise listen and add to their learning” (Proverbs 1:5).

  • John 10: Know (hear) His Voice.
  • Isaiah 50:3-5: Listen to His Voice.
  • Luke 11:28: Obey His Voice.

When you have about 9 or 10 minutes, here’s a short Bible study on John 10. Let me know your thoughts!
