At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: ‘Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.  Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!’”

Unhurried & Open to Receive

I am loving this unhurried holiday and hope you are, too.

There is something about keeping the word, “UNHURRIED,” in the forefront of the mind. I find it calling to me all day long.

In this week’s podcast episode, “Unhurried and Open to Receive,” guest and friend, Amy Anderson, founder of Unhurried Presence, leads us in a Lection Divina reading of Luke 1:39-45 and invites us to see what thought or word or invitation comes to our hearts.

I was surprised by my response.

“Leapt for joy” stood out and I felt a strong sense that I wanted my voice, my words, and my presence, to bring joy to everyone in my spheres of influence this holiday season.

Now, I am not naive, I know that there are going to be those who may or may not think I am a joy to be around. As a recovering people-pleaser, it is part of my work to accept the brutal truth that not everyone will like me.

And, a big part of “my work” involves the spiritual discipline and practice of Lectio Divina.

Unhurried and Open to Receive

I was so deeply moved by my first interview and conversation with Amy Anderson that I begged for a second.

Amy agreed and more magic happened!

In this episode:

  1. Get to know Amy and allow her story to inform yours.
  2. Grab your Bible and read/listen to our Lectio Divina, Luke 1:39-45.
  3. See what speaks to your heart as Amy reads through the passage and then as I read it a second time.
  4. Respond to the invitation to be “open to receive.”
